On January 19, 2018, Marcia Golightly Mackay, 62, passed away peacefully in her sleep. Born on October 17, 1955, Marcia spent her childhood in Kokomo, Indiana. She graduated from Haworth High School and attended DePauw University where she was a member the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Specializing in textiles and pottery, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at DePauw. After finishing college, Marcia moved to Northfield, Illinois where she began her career with Rand McNally Book Company as a picture editor. Later, she changed career paths and worked at General Electric as a benefits coordinator.
After living in Northfield for nearly 40 years, Marcia moved to Indianapolis to be closer to family. She loved spending time with her family and friends. astounding them with her memory and intriguing them with her wit. She had a deep faith in God and enjoyed her church families at both Glenview United Methodist Church in Glenview, Illinois and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Indianapolis.
Marcia is survived by her two sons, Scott and Brent (Ann) Mackay, and her sister, Barbara Graves. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Miles Golightly and father, Sidney Golightly Jr. of Kokomo, Indiana.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday, January 27, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 100 W 86th St, Indianapolis, Indiana followed by a memorial service celebrating Marcia’s life at 12:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Marcia may be made to the National MS Society.
