Marc R. Baker

April 26, 1961 — December 31, 2024

Cicero, Indiana

Marc Reed Baker, 63 of Cicero, went to Heaven Tuesday, December 31, 2024 surrounded by his family. Marc was born April 26, 1961 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio to the late Kenneth and Rosalie Baker. Early childhood in Ohio was consumed with playing backyard sports with his brothers and friends in which his team was always “The Ohio State Buckeyes!” In the early 1970’s the family moved to a suburb of Cincinnati, which Marc, who became an avid Reds fan, would call “The Big Red Machine era where Pete Rose and The Cincinnati Reds dominated”. In 1974 the Family moved to Tupelo MS where he joined the JH Football team and started to make his lifelong friendships. A 1979 graduate of Tupelo High School in Tupelo, MS, Marc loved sports and participated in both HS Basketball and Baseball. Marc went on to graduate from the University of Mississippi in 1983 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He loved his time as a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity making more lifelong friendships. Marc served as Vice President and President for the Pikes.

Upon graduating, Marc ventured out to Dallas, Texas and was in the lucrative Commercial Real Estate business in the early 80’s. In 1987 Marc returned home to Tupelo where he worked for Hancock Fabrics and traveled the US finding future store sites. Marc had many different jobs over the years, but he would tell you that his favorite was working as a librarian at the Noblesville, Indianna Public Library. He really enjoyed talking and sincerely getting to know each and every one of the patrons. Marc was also a member of the Noblesville Elks Lodge #576, and was the Exalted Ruler in 1998. Although he continued to stay in touch with his High School and College friends, he made some strong and incredible Indiana friendships as well. His smile was contagious, his interest in others heartfelt, and his many friends dearly loved him, as Marc, in turn, dearly loved all his friends. He was adopted into many families over the years, and was as proud of all their accomplishments as much as he was of his own nieces and nephews. Marc deeply loved his family and truly thought of his nieces and nephews as his own children and constantly stayed in contact with them. He will be dearly missed and forever loved.

A service celebrating Marc’s life will be held later this year.

Marc is survived by his two brothers, Kenneth (wife, Karen) Baker, Jr. and Steven (wife, Lisa ) Baker; nieces and nephews, Stephanie (husband, Joe) Polly, Nathan (wife, Hannah) Baker, Sydney (husband, Ryan) Huddleston, Carley Baker, Reese Baker and Ryan Baker; great nephews, Jack and Cameron Polly. He will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.
