Madeline Grace Bruning, 95, of Indianapolis, IN passed away May 17, 2019. Madeline was born on December 6, 1923 to the late John Denkinger and Madeline Friedman Tissot in Harrison, NJ.
After high school, Madeline honorably served in the United States Navy WAVES during WWII.
Madeline married the love of her life, Robert C. Bruning, on March 12, 1946 and they went on to raise 6 children together. She worked as an assistant traffic manager, but in her free time she loved to travel. Her children would often take her on trips where they would sight see and enjoy the new scenery. She also was excellent at games and in recent years, she would teach some of her caretaker’s new games, so they could play in their free time.
Madeline is survived by her children, Rebecca Sue (Paul) Jacks, Donna M. Braswell, Grace E. (Robert) Oliver, Jack (Patricia) Bruning, and Jerry Allen (Kathy) Bruning; daughter in law, Joanne Bruning; sister, Nancy Denkinger; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 25 great-great grandchildren.
Madeline’s beloved husband, Robert C. Bruning, passed away November 6, 2010. She is also preceded in death by her son, Robert Paul Bruning; granddaughter, Julie Brown; great-grandson, Derick Gregory; great-great grandson, Derek Lewis; great-great granddaughter, Sophia Jackson; and brother, John Joseph Denkinger II.
Friends and family may gather Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 11AM-2PM at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, with funeral services beginning at 2PM.
