M. Colleen Kilrain

M. Colleen Kilrain, 93, died peacefully on Dec 11, 2020. Born in Indianapolis on September 22, 1927, she was the daughter of Glenn and Helen (Kern) McConnell. Colleen was married to Edwin Thomas Kilrain II, who preceded her in death in 1988.
Colleen spent her adult life serving her church and community. She was one of the founding members of Church of the Saviour United Methodist Indianapolis. Driven by the church’s mission, Colleen began volunteering at Central State Mental Hospital. She continued to advocate for those with mental illness and retired from The Marion County Mental Health Association after thirty years of service.
In 1998, Colleen was awarded The Indiana Jefferson Award for her extraordinary community volunteerism. Colleen was also awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Evan Bayh, for her distinguished service to the state of Indiana.
Colleen is survived by four children, nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was a kind and loving woman who was adored by her family. She will be greatly missed.
