Lynn Sawyer passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on the morning of January 22nd. She was born on August 30, 1938 to Nellie and Arthur Van Wyngarden in Indianapolis and grew up on Rosslyn Avenue in Broad Ripple. She attended Broad Ripple High School and later Lake Forest College and Butler University. She married David Sawyer in 1958 after a courtship of convertibles and afternoons at the Riviera Club. As a child she loved spending summers with her cousins in Iowa and fond memories of these days on the family farms remained with her all her life. She applied her razor sharp fastidiousness to the craft of homemaking and raising four children while making time for countless travel and boating adventures with family and friends. Some of her favorite times were traveling the US with Dave in her beloved motor home 'Chocolate Chip'. Her constant sacrifices to the interests of her children and the needs of a growing family left a legacy and appreciation for integrity, hard work, responsibility, beauty and above all, loyalty and love. She is survived by her children Bradley (Aida), Brian, Mark and Melanie (Justin) as well as her grandchildren Will Sawyer, Annabelle Sawyer, Arden Armstrong and Griffin Armstrong. A calling will be held at Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple at 1305 E. Broad Ripple Avenue on Friday, January 26th from 12:00 to 2:00 followed by a service there at 2:00 pm. Donations may be made to the Greater Indiana Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
