Lurana Evangeline (Lyon) Jenkins, age 88, of Indianapolis, Indiana was called home on Thursday, August 22, 2024. Lurana “Lu” was born July 5, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Frederick and Esther (Hansen) Lyon.
As a child Lurana lived with her family in Cuba for three years as a missionary family. Later she attended God’s Bible School and College in Cincinnati, Ohio. Lurana worked for St. Francis Hospital for over 25 years as a patient advocate and representative.
In her free time, she was a passionate seamstress and crochet expert; a hobby that she was extremely talented at and shared with everyone around her. Lurana was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. This included regular attendance of the fine arts; choir, band, dance, and theatre. Lurana loved laughing, being surrounded by her loved ones, and most importantly, loved Jesus.
Lurana is survived by two siblings; Wayne Lyon (Jo Anne) and Edith Porterfield (Glenn); three daughters; Edith Carol Moeller (Moe), Betty (Burton) Caron, and Beverly Kysar; eight grandchildren; Eric Moeller (Beth), Ashleigh Kysar-Moon (Jason), Anna Kysar-Lenn (Josh), Carl Caron, Erin McElroy (Justin), Emily Kysar-Embrey (Donovon), Brad Caron (Annie), Robert Kysar (Shelbie); and 17 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229) on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 10 am to 12 pm. Funeral services will follow with Wayne Lyon officiating. Burial will take place after at Memorial Park Cemetery (9350 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, 46229).
