Louise Marie May, 93 of Indianapolis, Indiana, died March 19, 2019.
She was born on March 28, 1925 to the late William H. Lemasters and Nora Marie Lemasters. She was preceded in death by siblings, Helen Burst and Maryann Harrell; and she is survived by her brother, William Lemasters, Jr. She was married to and was preceded in death by Robert F. May. She is also preceded in death by two granddaughters, Christina and Kaylen.
Louise and Robert were married on Nov. 22, 1947. Louise is survived by her children: Frederick E. May, Barbara M. Huffman, Marilyn S. Whitaker, Anita M. Law, Richard G. May; grandchildren: Jennifer, Adam, Patrick, Nathan, Rilie, Kristen, Lydia and Robert; 3 great-grandchildren: Christopher, Cayla and Trystan and 1 great-great grandchild: Oakley.
Louise was born in Fountain Square and moved with her family to Lawrence later in her youth. She was a payroll clerk during World War II and worked at Fort Benjamin Harrison. She was very happy to be interviewed and included in a book written about women of World War II.
Robert and Louise lived on a farm with their family on the Eastside of Indianapolis for 43 years. She volunteered 25 years for Riley Hospital for Children Cheer Guild. She was well known for her puppy pillows.
The visitation hours are from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and followed by a 1:00pm funeral service at Zion United Church of Christ, 8916 E. Troy, 46239. Graveside service will be held at Washington Park East Cemetery, 10612 E. Washington St, Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Church of Christ, 8916 E. Troy, 46239.
