Lora Gerbick, Lora was the “rock” in our family. She was always there when we needed her. She was not only a wonderful mother and caretaker; she also worked a full-time job outside our home. She took us to all of our sports practices and games, besides also taking me (Debbie) to music lessons each week as we were growing up.
In her younger years of marriage, she worked for a company by the name of Malible. She later took a position with a small company, Bowler’s Accessory Shop in Speedway, IN. in which she was the bookkeeper. After several years with this company, she left and was offered a position as Office Manager and Bookkeeper for Thiele Heating and Air Conditioning in Indianapolis. She worked for this company until she retired from there at the age of 70.
She loved to play bingo. Every Friday evening, she would go to the American Legion to play bingo with a cousin of ours. Once she couldn’t drive any longer, Debbie, her daughter would take her to bingo on Friday evenings. She also enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas to play her favorite slot machines.
For 20 years Lora would spend the weekends at the cottage on Lake Shaffer. Here she had the enjoyment of watching her grandkids grow up. Along with her sisters Ruth and Mary, they always made sure everyone was well fed.
Lora is preceded in death by her husband Emil, “Milks”, and her son, Bob. Children: Debbie Gerbick Komlanc (Kenny), Michael Gerbick (Monica), Bob Gerbick (deceased).
