Lora Jo Baize, 87 of Carmel, passed away at her home Saturday, May 28, 2022. Jo was born January 7, 1935 in Scottsboro, Alabama to the late Golden Bridges and Edith Estell Tanner. She was a graduate of Hanover College.
Jo started her career as a stewardess with Eastern Airlines. She also worked as a teacher and a hospital social worker, before joining her husband’s engineering firm as an administrator. Jo was a member of Meridian Street United Methodist Church and was director of volunteers at the President Benjamin Harrison Home.
Family and friends are invited to gather from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Meridian Street United Methodist Church, where the funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Jo is survived by her husband, James E. Baize; son, Bradley G. (wife, Catherine) Lymburner; grandchildren, Taylor C., Faith E. and Braden E. Lymburner; step grandchildren, Tony Gates, Kristen Sharif, Nathan Gates, Denny Oland, Cariann Holt, Lisa James, Brent Oland; several great grandchildren; brother, Billy G. Tanner; sister, Debbie (husband, John) Hoselton; nieces, Lisa Norkus, Tracy Tanner, Kristin Tanner; nephew, Travis Goad; friend and caregiver, Lisa Casler.
