Lonny Lee Fincher, 81, of Indianapolis, Indiana, died on Saturday, June 6, 2020 unexpectedly at home. Lonny was born April 12,1939 in Elwood, IN, the son of Ellen Hudson Fincher and Alfred Fincher.
Lonny graduated from Wendell L. Willkie High School (now Elwood High School) in 1956 after graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany. He retired from General Motors and was a blacksmith by trade. Lonny and his wife, Bonnie, owned and operated Lightly Used Trucks in Carmel, Indiana for 22 years.
Lonny was a dedicated husband and loved caring for his family. Lonny was an adventurer. He enjoyed roping horses, golf and riding motorcycles. He took the opportunity to explore the US whenever possible. A highlight trip for him was driving his motorcycle across Route 66 all the way to California. He was a member of the American Legion. Lonny never knew a stranger and was known for his sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Pete Fincher, Carolyn Lee (Bob), Kenny Fincher, Kathrine Holiday. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, and daughters, Tracie Fincher, Holly Chrisman and son Travis Chrisman (Sheila); along with six grandchildren, Mikella Chrisman, Angela Terry (TJ and daughter Kennedy), Cotie Long (Sam), Kiarah Chrisman, Drue Chrisman (Avery), Alexiah Chrisman.
In lieu of flowers, Lonny’s family requests memorial contributions in his name be made to the Wheeler Mission, PO Box 3085, Indianapolis, IN 46206; or American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue; Dallas, TX 75231; or Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, 3333 Burnet Ave, Cincinnati 45229.
