Lon Archie Lyke, 77 of Indianapolis, IN passed into eternal life with his savior Jesus Christ on June 21, 2020. He was born January 23, 1943 in Fonde, Kentucky to the late John A. and Willie Athenia (Richards) Lyke. Lon was a man of many talents, but his profession was a Machinist for Mitchell and Scott where he retired January 20, 2005. He was a person who never met a stranger, had a wonderful sense of humor telling jokes, but his kindness and love for his family were all results of the type of person he was. He had the most beautiful blue eyes that sparkled like diamonds on the bluest ocean. Lon enjoyed fishing in his boat, woodworking, collecting trains in his younger days and riding his little red scooter around the neighborhood. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Carolyn (Cassida) Lyke, whom he married on May 20, 1989, his sons, John of Shelbyville, IN, Lonnie (Rhonda) of Spring Hill, FL, Larry (Angie) of Oaktown, IN,4 grandchildren, sister, Marcelle “Sue” (Harold) Keen of Indianapolis, IN, sisters-in-law, Patty and Vickie Lyke, aunt, June Richards of Indianapolis, IN and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, James and Paul “Woody” Lyke and a grandson, Quinten. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the health care professionals at Franciscan Health and Franciscan Hospice. Services will be held for Lon on Thursday, June 25, 2020 12:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township with Pastor Jerry Bell officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, June 25, 2020 11am until the service at 12:00PM. He will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association.
