Lois May Mays

Lois M. Mays, a lifelong resident of the Indianapolis area, passed away March 7, 2020 at the age of 90. She was born August 12, 1929 to William W. and Iona M. (Angle) Coffman.

Lois was a homemaker for a family of five.  She loved music, especially the popular music of the ‘30s and ’40.  Often, she would sit at the piano and play her favorite songs or sing her favorite show tunes when she was working around the house.  She attempted knitting for a while, but finally settled on crocheting, a skill she probably learned from her mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Clarence W. Coffman, William F. Coffman, and Norma J. Coffman, and her husband of 57 years, Doyle G. Mays.  She is survived by her children:  Daniel G. Mays, Alan D. (Anita) Mays, and Kathy E. Mays, her grandchildren:  Kevin R. Day and Kimberly E. Day, and her great-grandchild:  Keven R. Day, Jr.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, from 10-12pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. There will be a service following at 12pm also at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association and/or The Alzheimer’s Association.
