Lois Jean Ernst
80, of Indianapolis, IN passed away peacefully on April 27, 2018. Lois was born February 19, 1938 to the late John A. and Willa (Rademacher) Graf who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by Charles H. Ernst, her beloved husband of 57 years, and her sister, Audrey Rekers (Jim). Possessing a true servant’s heart, Lois faithfully cared for family and friends through delicious cooking and baking. A woman of faith and the heart of the Ernst family, Lois shaped their spirituality by her Christian example and through her volunteer work at St. Monica Church and through Scouting. With a real zest for life, Lois loved to host family gatherings, sew, quilt, bake, play bridge, and spend time with her Grandchildren.
Lois was a kind and loving woman adored by her three children, John Ernst (Lisa), Lauren Kniola (Tim), and Pat Ernst (Liz); 6 grandchildren, Alexandra, Matthew (Darcy), Erica, Megan, Alyson, and Meilyn; brother, Ray Graf (Mary Lee) of Cincinnati, OH; sister-in-law, Mary Kay Couch (Allen) and brother-in-law, Jim Ernst; loving canine companion, Sandy; and many nieces and nephews. Family and Friends may call Monday, April 30, 2018 from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler Blvd West Drive. Funeral Mass will follow Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church 6131 N. Michigan Rd with one hour calling prior to service. Entombment will be held at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
