Lois A. Blackwell

Lois Ann Blackwell, 90, of Shelbyville, passed away August 16th, 2024. She was born March 15th, 1934, in Indianapolis to parents Frank Schuller and Louise (Ulrey) Bratton. 

Lois grew up in Indianapolis. 

At only 17, she met the love of her life, Ronald Blackwell. They married August 16th, 1950, and shared 74 wonderful years together. 

She was a devoted homemaker for her family. 

Lois and Ronald were valued members of Zion Lutheran Church for over 15 years. 

Lois was a vibrant, loving woman. Her Lutheran faith was very important to her, and she always looked forward to gatherings at church (especially the meals). She was very social and took great pride in hosting friends and family at her home. Lois enjoyed shopping, looking for new angel figurines and glassware to add to her collections. Lois loved to decorate and always liked to look her best. 

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Lois is survived by her adoring husband Ronald; her children Ron Blackwell Jr. (Carolyn), Brian Blackwell (Melinda); daughter in law Amy Pullin Blackwell; grandchildren Jason, Jennifer, and Christopher; great-grandchildren Jackson, Logan, Amelia, Corinne "Coco", Rosemary “Romy”, Tyler, and Sydney; and many nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her son Scott Mitchell; and her granddaughter Christi. 

Visitation will be Monday August 19th, from 4-8pm at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East; Additional visitation will be Tuesday August 20th, from 10-11am at Zion Lutheran Church. Her funeral will begin at 11am. 

She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to Zion Lutheran Church.
