Lloyd R. Hicks Sr.

Lloyd Richard Hicks Sr., 77, of Indianapolis, passed away October 10, 2020. He was born on February 24, 1943 in Tiptonville, Tennessee to the late William Grant Hicks and Jewell Clara Hicks King.

Lloyd was a proud Marine and served his country from 1961-1965. After his time in the military, he was a dedicated employee to Norfolk Southern Railroads where he worked as an engineer until his retirement in 2002. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Lloyd loved music and was known to be an excellent guitar player. He was so passionate; he even made his own solo cover album with some of his favorite songs. He also loved fishing with friends and family at Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee, cooking, gardening, and family gatherings. If you knew Lloyd, he enjoyed telling many stories.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 59 years, Patricia Ann Hicks; sister Brenda York; children Lloyd R. Hicks Jr. (Anita), Penny M. Bane (Frank), Gregory A. Hicks (Susie), Tina M. Kimsey (Bryant); and Francisco Rodriguez (Sheila); Eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great- great grandchild; and one angel.

He is preceded in death by his beloved brothers, Elzie, Ray, Slayden, Randolph (Monk), and sister Linda.

Visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, 46229 on Friday, October 16, 2020 from 12-2PM with services to begin at 2PM. Interment to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
