Lisa M. Spitz, of Carmel, Indiana passed away on January 11, 2024. She was born March 15, 1962, in Olney, Illinois the daughter of James and Isabelle (Bower) Newlin.
Lisa received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois in computer science, which led her into a successful and passionate professional career. She retired in 2022 from Duke Realty as Associate Vice-President of Information Technology. Throughout her 16 years of service, Lisa found deep fulfillment as she honed dynamic skills and cultivated meaningful relationships. From a young age, Lisa developed a love of animals especially horses, Tennessee Walking Horses. Her appreciation and compassion for animals continued as she became an active supporter and frequent visitor of the Cincinnati Zoo. Lisa was a devoted mother, taking great pride in her two daughters and watching them succeed in their individual endeavors.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lindsey Spitz and Shelby (Alexander Spohr) Spitz; mother, Isabelle Newlin; long-time partner and best friend of 23 years, David Gerichs and his children, Jennifer (Ben) Seppala and Joseph (Cierra) Gerichs; sister, Anne Schmidt; two nieces, Casey and Cara Schmidt; and her precious labradoodle puppies, Myla and Laney. She was preceded in passing by her father, James Newlin.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters), 4180 Westfield Road. A Celebration of Life Gathering will immediately follow from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cincinnati Zoo, ALS Association, or North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (NANETS).
