Linda Jean Scott of Indianapolis died on December 24, 2020 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 85. She was born December 13, 1935 in St. Louis, MO to the late George Payton and Ruth MacDougall. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Hanover College. She went on to work for over 35 years as a social worker for the American Red Cross (Indianapolis Chapter) where she gave back to others supporting them through the most challenging times. She loved painting, knitting, caring for animals, but most of all her family. Linda leaves behind her children Kathryn R. Massengale (the late Jeffrey), Mark Tichenor (Cathy), and Dan Tichenor (Kathy); stepdaughter Joan C. Hampton; grandchildren Ryan Massengale, Megan Davis (Jamin), Shannon Mullis (Jerid), and Halli Tichenor; 3 step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and brother Bob MacDougall (Linda). She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Dwayne Scott in February. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 29 from 11 AM to 1 PM with a Funeral Service beginning at 1 PM in Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to the American Red Cross. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jessica and Adaptive Hospice for the great care they provided Linda.
