Linda Jane Rettig Hill of Fishers, Indiana, beloved wife of Frank C. Hill passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. She was born October 16, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late John N. Rettig and Laura Patricia Bracken Rettig.
Linda is preceded in death by son, Charles (Charlie) F. Hill, brother, J. Ronald Rettig and sister, Mary R. Abbott. She is survived by her husband, Frank C. Hill, daughter, Jane (James) Callahan, son, Jeffrey Hill and daughter-in-law, Peggy (Charlie) Hill, grandchildren, Angela Callahan Swisher (Matthew), Christine E. Callahan, Stephanie Hill Schuck (Matthew), F. Alexander Hill (Paige), Jennifer M. Hill and great grandson, Francis A. Schuck.
Linda was a member of St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church and served on several parish ministries including Sally Burton Food Pantry, Prayer Shawl, Interfaith Hospitality Network and was involved in cooking and serving meals to the homeless in downtown Indianapolis. She crocheted and knitted over 300 sets of baby blankets, booties and hats which were all donated to Riverview Hospital, Touch of Love. She also crocheted bed size afghans which she donated to The Julian Center’s annual fundraiser auction. Linda volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader, CCD teacher for St. Simon and St. Lawrence Catholic Churches and was an Easterseals Crossroads Rehabilitation Center volunteer. She was a 1951 graduate of St. Agnes Academy, Indianapolis, and she attended Butler University and IUPUI. She worked in the insurance and fire protection industries along with being an artist and homemaker. Linda was a member of Beta Beta Latrian and Questers (Fall Creek Chapter). Linda enjoyed gardening, cooking, caring for animals, and passing traditions on to her children and grandchildren. Since volunteering was an activity that Linda cherished dearly, one of her departing wishes was to have each family member choose at least one organization to get involved with and avidly volunteer as much as possible.
Visitation will be, Monday, February 19, 2018, from 4 to 7 pm with a Rosary service at 6:30 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite). Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Louis de Montfort, 11421 Hague Road, Fishers, IN 46038. The burial will be immediately following the mass at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
