Lillian M. Spurgeon
Our beloved mother, Lillian M. Spurgeon, was called home on April 29, 2021 at the age of 94. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. Lillian was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 8, 1927 to Alban W. and Margaret M. Miller. She graduated from St. Mary of the Woods School. Lillian was a candy striper during WWII. During her life she worked at Vonneguts, Ball Kamp, Roadway Inn, Woolco and Kroger. Lillian also worked with the Indiana National Guard on the switch board during the Day of Tornadoes. Mom was a Girl Scout Leader, Boy Scout Leader and a 4-H Leader. She also did work for St Ann Catholic Church, printing bulletins and cleaning the church. She loved to crochet, plastic canvas, baby sitting and working with children. She even took a group of Girl Scouts to Washington D.C. for a week. Lillian will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Alban W and Margaret M. Miller; husband, Keith E. Spurgeon and brothers, Robert and Thomas Miller. She is survived by her children, Debra (Norman) M. Fenner, Michael (Julie) T. Spurgeon, Mary Lesa Pollitt and Timothy A. Spurgeon; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 2 to 8 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Decatur Township. Funeral service will be Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 10 am at St. Ann Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to Life’s Journey. Alice her hospice nurse, and Regina her C.N.A., you cared for our mother as if she was your own. We will always carry you in our hearts, thank you. Memorial contributions may be made to Life’s Journey or St. Ann Catholic Church.
