Leslie Stephen D'Luhy

November 20, 1951 — June 6, 2020

Avon, IN

Leslie (Les) Stephen D’Luhy, 68, passed peacefully with his loving family by his side on June 6th, 2020, after a long and valiant battle with Covid-19.  Born on November 20th,1951 in Shelton, CT, he graduated from Seymour High School in 1969. This is where his love of music began, particularly Rock and Roll. Les met his beautiful bride, Rosemary Fortuna working at Grand Union, a local grocery store. They officially began their love story on May 5th, 1974. Working side by side every day, they ran and operated Fortuna’s Deli and Catering locations in both Fairfield and Bridgeport, Connecticut. His dedication, drive, and work ethic made Les the perfect role model for many of their young employees. His advice was unmatched, after all, he did know everything. They worked together for the next 37 years and then moved to Avon, Indiana to be closer to their daughter and new granddaughter. While in Indiana, Les had a bit more free time, but he again worked side by side with his wife, and brother in law, and in more recent years became one of the best employees Amazon will ever have.

Les was beyond smart, always having an answer for anyone and everything. He was extremely compassionate. If you needed an ear to talk to, a shoulder to cry on, or just a smile, Les was the first to volunteer.  He was uniquely witty, respectful, kind, loving and so much more. He was UConn Huskies Women’s basketball biggest fan, attending dozens of games and final fours. He had an incredible love of music, anything from Andrea Bocelli to The Doors, opera to Bon Jovi. He attended 100’s of concerts through the years. If a rock song came on, you would be sure to see him strumming his fingers on the air guitar. He loved the theater and enjoyed taking his wife and granddaughter every chance he could.

Les loved everyone, but most of all his family. He was a devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather. He is predeceased by his parents, Leslie, and Irene D’Luhy. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years Rosemary, his lovely daughter, Jennifer Helton and her husband John, and one beautiful granddaughter, Alyssa Helton of Plainfield, Indiana, his sister Irene Agostini and husband Felippo of Connecticut, brother in law and sister in law Paul and Angela Fortuna of Indiana and Patti and Paul Stannard of Vermont & many nieces, nephews and friends from all over the world. There will be a funeral mass at St. Susanna’s Church in Plainfield, Indiana on Thursday June 11th, 2020 at 4:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at Washington Township Park Cardinal Pavilion, 435 Whipple Lane Avon, Indiana from 5:30-8:30 pm.
