Leroy Charles Rode, 93, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Altenheim Senior Living Center. He was born on February 24, 1925 in Scottsburg, IN to the late Henry C. and Clara (Brinkman) Rode. Leroy was a farmer, a carpenter and part owner of R & R Construction, and a bus driver for Franklin Township Schools. He was a loving dad and grandpa and loved taking care of his family and watching his great-grandchildren play. Leroy was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church. He is survived by his children, David (Donna) Rode of Fountaintown, Sheila (Randal) Hall of Indianapolis, Melissa (Mike) Farlow of Indianapolis, Thomas Rode; grandchildren, Randal Jr. (Amy) Hall, Jordan Bellamy, Austin (Shelby) Hall, Alicia Rode, Amanda Rode, Natalie Farlow; and 5 great-grandchildren. Leroy is also survived by his sisters, Doris Heath of San Diego, CA and Ellogene Everage of Sellersburg, IN. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Peggy Ann Rode; brothers, Melvin Rode and Herbert Rode; sister, Thelma Hashman. Family and friends may gather from 4-8pm at St. John Lutheran Church, 6630 Southeastern Ave. Indianapolis, 46203 on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. Funeral services will take place the following morning at the church at 11am, with additional visitation 1 hour prior to the services. Entombment will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
