Leota Maxine Redington King Patterson passed away on July 30, 2020 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She was born on April 11, 1925 in Decatur County, Indiana. Her parents were Plesant L. Redington
and Ora Hazel (Boicourt) Redington. Leota had two older brothers: Walter LaVelle Redington and
Nolan Wayne Redington. Her paternal grandparents were Isaac Francis Redington and Louisa Fannie (Osting) Redington. Her maternal grandparents were William Thomas Boicourt and Lydia (Doggett) Boicourt.
Leota graduated from St. Paul Indiana high school in 1943. She went to business college in Indianapolis a few years. On June 6, 1948 at Star Baptist Church she married Stanley Hicks King.
They had one son and two daughters. The family lived in Shelbyville, Indiana. On February 15, 1958, Stanley King died in a plane accident.
Leota served as the secretary at Willian Loper School in Shelbyville for several years. On August 9, 1969 at Shelbyville Baptist Church she married Truett Herbert Patterson and moved to Indianapolis. Leota and Truett Patterson were married 41 years. During the last 14 years they attended Traders Point Church of Christ. During the winter season they attended the Merkel, Texas Church of Christ.
Leota took piano lessons for several years in Greensburg, Indiana. She also played the organ. In high school she played the saxophone in the band. She was a wonderful cook and sewer. She made beautiful curtains. She also enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, word searches, and Jeopardy. Leota was 95.
Leota was preceded in death by her parents Plesant and Ora Redington; first husband Stanley King, second husband Truett Patterson; brothers LaVelle Redington, Nolan Redington; son-in-law Steve Glaub, and daughter-in-law Twilia Patterson.
Leota is survived by son Stephen (Patricia) King of Greenwood, Cheyrl Glaub of Ft Meyers Beach, Florida, Anita (Jack) Brinson of Fishers, Indiana. She is also survived by Mary (Paul) Foxworthy of Olathe, Kansas, Jane (Chris) Gravenstreter of Lawrence, Indiana, and Mark Patterson of Indianapolis. Grandchildren include: Lori (Tony) Prather, Jill (Andrew) Arnold, Blythe Brinson, Brian (Andrea) Foxworthy, Derin Foxworthy, Alicia (Jeff) Boswell, Michael (Jessica) Gravenstreter, Daniel Gravenstreter, Nancy Patterson, Amelia Patterson, and Victoria Patterson-Weber. Great-grandchildren include: Jason Prather, Jenna Prather, Jackson Arnold, Lauren Foxworthy, Joel Foxworthy, Allison Foxworthy, Julianna Boswell, Micah Boswell, Daniel Paul Gravenstreter, Rylee Gravenstreter, Vincent Gravenstreter, and Rain Gravenstreter.
