Lenise was born to Gene and Lula Huskey February 3, 1968, in Cleveland Ohio. During her childhood days, Lenise attended Center Elementary School, Kansas City, Missouri, where she tried her hand at being a hairdresser with a classmate. At the early age of 10, Lenise dedicated her life to Christ at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri, under the pastorship of Rev. Eddie Kimbrough. During her teenage years, Lenise attended Raymore/Peculiar High School in Peculiar, Missouri. She was involved in several school activities; such as cheerleading and playing the flute in the band. Additionally, she was chosen as class Treasurer. Lenise’s after school activities included horseback riding with her sisters, and teaching piano lessons at church.
Lenise was very involved at her home church, Second Missionary Baptist Church, Grandview Missouri. She served as music director of the youth choir. She also helped organize and direct other youth choirs in the Grandview area, and was the assistant director of the local daycare facility.
Lenise graduated high school in 1986 and spent her college years at the University of Oklahoma. She was involved in Student Council and sang in the University of Oklahoma African American student choir. She graduated May 12, 1990, with a Bachelors in Political Science. Later she attended Brown College where she earned her nursing degree. Lenise married and from that union two children were born, Leceia and Justus Johnson.
Lenise’s two sisters preceded her in death: Crystal Huskey Matthews in 2004 and Gail Huskey Gay in 2006. Now she leaves to mourn her death her father Gene Huskey and mother Lula Huskey, her two children Leceia and Justus Johnson, four nephews, a very close Aunt Debbie, and a host of other relatives and friends.
