Lawrence J. Dennin, Sr. 93, formerly of Indianapolis, residing in Country Club Hills, IL, passed away peacefully at home, Nov. 12, 2019. Born Feb. 7,1926 in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Matthew J. Dennin II and Anna C. Sullivan. He grew up in Winnipeg, MB. While in college he joined the Navy and was a veteran of WW ll, having served as a medical corpsman. He married Joanne M. Hall Nov. 24, 1949. He earned a B.S. in chemistry from Butler. U., joined Eli Lilly in 1950 where he worked for 36 years in the Microbiology Labs and Corporate Quality Assurance with emphasis on International Operations. Larry was a member of the American Legion Post 34, Ancient Order of Hibernians, volunteered over 10,000 hours in 8 years at Community Hospital North, lector and usher at St. John’s Catholic Church in Indianapolis for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne (Hall) Dennin, his sisters, Anne (Dennin) McCaffrey, Mary (Dennin) Wentland, and his brothers, Matthew J. Dennin lll, and Eugene F. Dennin. He is survived by his son, Lawrence Jr., (Janice), his daughter, Anne (David) Jagoda, grandsons-Carl, Scott, Damon, Daniel, Andrew, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, November 22, 2019 from 3-9 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan Mortuary in Broad Ripple, Funeral Mass is at 10:00 a.m Saturday, November 23rd at St. John’s Catholic Church 126 W. Georgia St., interment Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
