LaVerne M. Dreier

Carmel

LaVerne (Montgomery) Dreier departed this world on November 29, 2024. LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Montgomery and Agnes (Steuber) Quass, stepfather Paul Quass, husband Richard D. Dreier, sister Bonita (Bonnie) Scarlett, brother Donald R. Quass, and son Andy Hogue. She is survived by sons Rick (Connie) Hogue and Randy (Cindy) Hogue, 3 stepchildren, 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and loving nieces and nephews. LaVerne loved the Lord and spent time with family and friends. She became a Christian in her younger years in Indianapolis and was a member of Westside Nazarene Church for many decades. During this time, her life was not without challenges but she remained a loving mother to her three boys while also managing several Westside property management offices. LaVerne became a dispatcher at the Indianapolis Water Company She met Richard (Dick) Dreier in the late 1960s. In 1970, they eloped and married in a country grocery store in Tennessee, officiated by the store’s butcher who was also the town Justice of the Peace. LaVerne and Dick remained happily married for 36 years until his passing in 2006. After retiring to Florida in 1990, LaVerne was an active member of MacGregor Baptist Church. While in Florida, LaVerne managed an office at Edison College and traveled to Israel with other members of her church, which was a source of joy and inspiration. She loved recounting her experience of having been baptized (again) in the Jordan River and proudly displayed many menorahs and nativity scenes in her home year-round. LaVerne volunteered in various church ministries including a ladies mentorship group (Apples of Gold) and a ministry for women in crisis (Second Chance Shop). LaVerne was enthusiastic about celebrating special occasions and welcoming guests into her home. She hosted parties with a well-known flair for table decorating. LaVerne LOVED celebrating birthdays- especially her own and Jesus’ during the Christmas season- and was often more excited about another person’s birthday than the actual celebrant. In her later years, LaVerne moved back to Indiana to be closer to family and faithfully attended Community Bible Fellowship Church in Westfield. She continued to be vocal about her faith in Jesus, and her prayers with family and caregivers remained vibrant and heartfelt. She is missed by the many family and friends who knew her, and takes comfort in knowing LaVerne is enjoying an eternal celebration with Jesus.
