Laura M. Wood

Laura M. Wood, 86, of Indianapolis passed away June 14, 2018.  Laura was born the 2^nd of 8 children on November 28, 1931 in Sault Sainte Marie, MI to the late Wilvy and Grace LaPlaunt.

Laura retired from Butler Toyota after 15 years of service answering the phone and performing other receptionist duties.  Additionally, she worked as telephone operator for Michigan Bell and also as a fraud investigator for Indiana Bell.  She loved her family more than anything and spent her life making their lives better.  Laura enjoyed cooking, making ceramics, fishing, playing euchre & bingo.

Laura is survived by her husband, Bill; Son, Chip (Angi); Daughter, Julie Harrington (John); 2 grandchildren (Emily & Ethan Wood); Brother, Brian (Patsy); Sisters, Grace Ann MacArthur (Edward – deceased), Myrna Wilson and Wilma McVarish (Frank).  Preceding Laura in death were Brothers, Bernard “Bun” (Gloria), Lorne (Wanda) and Eugene (Donna).

God has welcomed a new angel that He had accepted long before her mind & body were exhausted here on earth. Now she has her health back and all of the memories she had lost have filled her mind again in heaven.  Whether she was cooking way too much food for every meal & holiday feast, fishing on the banks of a lake at a campground in Clay City, IN, playing euchre with her family & friends or going lovingly overboard on birthday and Christmas gifts, she was an incredible wife, Mom, grandmother, sister, daughter, friend, co-worker and person. Her smile was infectious and her laugh was contagious. All the happiness, love and joy she shared with her husband of nearly 53 years, her children and grandchildren, other family members and her friends will live on and be cherished forever.  She will be missed every day.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at American Legion Post 155, 852 W. Main Street, Carmel, IN from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
