Larry Somers

Larry Somers, 81, of Indianapolis passed away November 16^th, 2021. He was born June 9^th, 1940, in Indianapolis, to parents Harold and Elizabeth (Welch) Somers.

Larry graduated from Arsenal Tech high school.

On November 6^th, 1965, he married the love of his life Carol Clowers. They shared 56 wonderful years together.

He worked as a patternmaker for Chrysler for many years before retiring in 2005. Larry liked to stay busy, even after retiring. He and his wife owned and operated “Double Feature”, a pizza and video rental for several years. A big Pacer’s fan, he really enjoyed working crowd management at the Pacer’s stadium.

Larry continued his education at Vincennes University, where he received an associate degree in airplane technology and maintenance. He enjoyed working on aircrafts and flying.

He was valued member of Englewood Church for many years, teaching Sunday school and bible study groups.

Larry was a lively, loving gentlemen, with a magnetic spirit that made people smile. He was incredibly multitalented. He loved cars—namely his 1976 Corvette, and enjoyed attending car shows. Larry enjoyed long country drives and riding his motorcycle.  Music was a big part of his life. He loved karaoke and sang with the Indianapolis Maennerchor choir for several years. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, building model cars, and golfing. Larry was a Star Wars buff and bonded with his daughter and grandson, watching every new Star Wars movie together. Above all, he adored spending time with his wife and family.

Larry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; his daughter Kenna Somers; grandson Achilles Lyon; and cat Mitzi.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Darlene Somers; and Uncle Robert “Bob” Somers.

Larry’s visitation will be at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East, Friday November 19^th from 12-3pm. His funeral will begin at 3pm. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
