Larry R. Bailey D.D.S.

Larry R. Bailey passed away on October 31, 2022. He was born on December 17, 1934, in Chattanooga, TN to the late Clyde H. and RubyDell Bailey. He was the second of five children. Larry graduated from Chattanooga High School, attended University of Chattanooga, and entered the University of TN College of Dentistry of Memphis. He graduated in December 1957.

In January 1958, Larry was employed by Florida State Board of Health in Pinellas County. He worked in public health dental clinics in Clearwater and Tarpon Springs providing free dental care for children in need. In July 1958, he began serving in the US Army Dental Corps and was stationed at Ft. Benjamin Harrison Dental Clinic. He served through July 1960. He met Shirley who was working at Fort Benjamin Harrison, and they married in February of 1960. He was in the private dental practice of General Dentistry July 1960 until July 1999, when he retired. He was a member of Indianapolis District Dental Society, Indiana State Dental Association, and American Dental Association. In his younger years, he enjoyed flying his plane, bowling, and played golf for many years. He collected clocks and liked tinkering with them.

Larry was very proud of his family. He and Shirley, his wife of 62 years, had three daughters, Denise (Dave) Burkert, Angie (Derek) Sajdyk, Allison (Chris) Cappella. He was blessed with seven granddaughters, one grandson, three great granddaughters and two great grandsons. He is also survived by his siblings, Betty Whaley, Norman Bailey, William Bailey and Margaret Ford.

Family and friends are invited to gather Sunday, November 6, 2022, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel. A Celebration of Life at Carmel United Methodist Church where he was a long-time member, will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022, at 11:00 am, with additional visitation starting at 10:00 am.
