Larry Joe DeFord

82, of Camby, passed away on January 8, 2020 in Mooresville, Indiana. He was born in Frankfort, Indiana and moved to California where he met his wife of 46 years before her death on December 13, 2009. In 1976 he moved back to Indiana and got a job at Amtrak where he worked until November 30, 2009. He had 30 years of service as he had a few shoulder (6) surgeries and a knee replacement. In 1978 fresh from California we hit the Blizzard of 1978…He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and camping. In his younger years he did Judo and rode a motorcycle. After his wife’s passing, he would go to Ryan’s twice a week to eat at the buffet and meet with friends. Ryan’s closed so he went to Golden Corral. He then had to live with his daughter and then go into Assisted Living. He made so many friends with staff and the residents. His personality of being a character came out. He loved to joke around and make people smile. He was loved and will be missed, but he has joined his wife in Heaven. He instilled a good work ethic in both of his children. He was proceeded in death by his wife Theodora ‘Teddy’ DeFord of 46 years and brother Roger Krebs.  He is survived by his children Brenda DeFord and Patrick DeFord; siblings, Carol Phillips Ronald Krebs and Rha Jeana Dermody; grandchildren, Ashley, Nolan, and Austin; great grandchildren, Drayce and Jaina and several nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be Monday, January 13, 2020 from 4 to 8 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Decatur Township.  Funeral service will be Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 11 am at Flanner Buchanan-Decatur Township.  Burial will follow at West Newton Cemetery.  Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Gasburg Baptist Church for Missions, 11564 North Gasburg Road, Mooresville, Indiana 46158.
