71 of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, February 24th after a long and courageous battle with cancer in which he NEVER GAVE UP. He was born May 11, 1945 to Lawrence O Badgley and Geneva (Woods) Badgley. He was a devoted Husband, Dad. Grandpa and Great-Grandpa. He married his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Rose (Creamer) Badgley, on November 25, 1966. He retired as a teamster from Roadway Express in September of 1996. He then returned to work for the City of Indianapolis in the Indianapolis Police Department Property Room for several years before retiring once again.
During his life, Larry loved spending time with his family, fishing, watching sports, with baseball and college football being his favorites. He especially loved watching his son, Jeff, play baseball and slow pitch softball as well as his granddaughter, Ashley, play fast pitch softball. When Jeff started coaching Ashley in softball, Larry enjoyed critiquing the game (both the good and the bad) and coaching afterward with Jeff. Larry and Carolyn were called “Grandpa and Granny” by the girls on the team. Larry also enjoyed horse racing, dog racing and going to the casino.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Geneva Badgley; and his sister Linda (Badgley) King.
Surviving Larry is his wife Carolyn Rose (Creamer) Badgley; Son, Jeff (Stephanie) Badgley; Granddaughter, Ashley Badgley; Great Granddaughter, Shelby Badgley; Niece, Kim (Jim) Stanton; Nephew, Randy (Pam) King; Great Niece, Heather Stanton; and Great Nephew, Josh Stanton.
A visitation for Larry will be held from 4:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Flanner and buchanan – Decatur Township. Visitation hours will then extend from 11:00a.m. – 1:00p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the funeral home, with the funeral service starting at 1:00p.m. Larry will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens following the funeral Service.
