Larry A. Nicolet received his final miracle of eternal life on June 8, 2022. Larry was born and reared in Lima, Ohio, son of Dwight and Betty Nicolet and brother of Dan Nicolet (Denton, Texas). Larry was married to Joan for 50 years and was the proud father of 3 children, Mindy Nicolet (Zionsville), Molly Tuminello (Zionsville) and Mark Nicolet (Denver), father-in-law to Brian Tuminello and Meagan Nicolet, and Papa to Owen and Blake Tuminello and Drew, James, William and Luke Nicolet. Larry was a graduate of Purdue University, 1971, becoming a member of Sigma Chi, a lifelong source of brotherhood and friendship. Larry spent his 47-year career in the property and casualty insurance business, rising to President of Waterfield Insurance Agency and the Indiana Independent Agent of the Year of 2003. He was the Lifetime Achievement Award Winner in 2020 at the Country Club of Indianapolis where he was a member for 44 years, serving as President in 1994. Larry was a past President of the Indiana Golf Association, the winner of the Wagoner Award, and was the Indiana State Super Senior Champion in 2014. He served on the Tri State Golf Association Board of Directors and loved the annual competition between Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. Larry resided in Zionsville for 39 years where he was a member of Zionsville United Methodist Church and coached and volunteered in youth sports. He and Mark also founded the Zionsville Dad’s Day Breakfast providing an impactful opportunity for fathers and sons to strengthen their relationship. Larry considered this one of his greatest contributions to the community. He became a volunteer with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in 2011 following his diagnosis, treatment, and recovery from pancreatic cancer. Over the last 11 years, he has raised close to $100,000 for PanCan to be used in research and patient services. Larry will be missed by his family and many friends who remember him as always optimistic, giving hope to many, a monument to the power of positive thinking and an amazing example of a life well lived. Larry always said his faith, his family, and his friends were the most important parts of his life. The celebration of life will be held at Zionsville United Methodist church on Tuesday, June 14, with visitation beginning at 3:00 and after the celebration which begins at 4:00.
