.It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we share the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Larisa Aslanyan, on February 17, 2025. Born in Russia in 1946, Larisa moved to Armenia as a child—a place she would grow to deeply love. At 21, she married her devoted husband, Edison, sharing over 50 loving years together before his passing in 2021. She worked in Armenia for 30 years as Director of Personnel at her regional energy plant, at which she was commended and lauded several times for her efforts and skill. In 1988, her life in Armenia was uprooted by a massive earthquake, after which she and her husband Edison returned to Russia. Despite this hardship, she always kept her bright smile.
Larisa’s life was defined by her unwavering devotion to family and her extraordinary ability to unite those around her. She and Edison raised two wonderful daughters, Lyudmila and Inessa, who both married and blessed her with five grandchildren. After Lyudmila and Inessa moved to the United States themselves, Larisa also made her way here in 2012 with her husband to reunite with her loved ones. No matter where life led her, she remained a beam of light, her friendly smile and welcoming spirit making those around her feel at home.
Larisa’s kindness shone through every aspect of her life. Whether she was lending a helping hand, offering a comforting word, or preparing a home-cooked meal, her actions always showed her boundless love and generosity. She believed that even the smallest gestures— like making sure no one left her home hungry— could brighten a day or mend a weary heart.
Larisa is survived by her daughters, Lyudmila and Inessa, and her five grandchildren: Stanislav Matveev, Daniel Bishop, David Bishop, Gabriel Hansen, and Gregory Bishop, all of whom will continue to carry forward her warmth and devotion to family. A funeral honoring her life will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Joy of All Who Sorrow Orthodox Church, where family and friends are invited to share their memories and remember the beautiful life she lived.
Although words cannot capture the full extent of her brightness, we find comfort in recalling her ready smile and kind heart. May we each carry a piece of her spirit forward in all that we do.
