Kurt Michael Cummings

April 9, 1961 — May 24, 2021

Fishers, IN

Kurt Michael Cummings, 60, of Fishers, IN, joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his beloved wife of 33 years, Jody A. Cummings (Thompson) in eternal victory, on Monday, May 24, 2021. He was born on April 9, 1961 in Dennison, OH to Charles F. and Janice F. (Wallace) Cummings and was a 1979 graduate of Claymont High School where he excelled in athletics.

Kurt’s greatest treasure in life was his family and he will always be deeply missed by his three loving daughters, Kassidy L. (Mark) Vann, Jordan E. (Dustin) Hall and Janelle M. (Travis) Settlemyre; his five grandchildren, Avery E. Vann, Jase E. Vann, Declan W. Vann, Harper A. Settlemyre and Nora M. Settlemyre; as well as his most loyal companion “Chalkline Charlie”.

Kurt’s unwavering faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his life. He was a member of Northview Church in Fishers, IN and carried a deep conviction of generosity. Kurt spent many years serving alongside inner city ministries in downtown Indianapolis, as well as contributing all he could into providing clean water and resources to families in Africa, ending Bible poverty, fighting against human trafficking, supporting missionaries on the front lines and investing in the youth programs in his hometown of Tuscarawas County.

With the Lord’s leading, Kurt’s rooted steadfast character, unwavering leadership, competitive nature and careful attention to detail enabled him many opportunities to grow professionally in the food service industry. Never afraid of a challenge, always looking to better himself, and always looking for ways to provide a beautiful life for his close- knit family, Kurt said “YES” to countless opportunities and challenges that rewarded him with tremendous success and many diverse experiences. After the heartbreak of losing his beloved wife in 2014, Kurt transitioned out of the corporate world and started a detailing company in the greater Indianapolis, IN area. Despite his great success in the corporate world, it was in these last years that a true joy and passion for small business, entrepreneurship and mentoring the next generation of small business leaders was ignited.

Additionally, Kurt will be sorely missed by his siblings Chuck (Deborah) Cummings, Randy (Shawn) Cummings, Jami Beans (Cummings) and Casey (Lexi) Cummings; nieces and nephews Derek (Rachel) Cummings, Danielle (Cade) Adams, Jennifer (Josh) Beans, Caleb (Laini) Beans, Chris Cummings, Quinn Cummings, Cade Cummings, Camry Cummings, David (Jennifer) Cummings and Bryan Gibbs; many close great-nieces and nephews; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Barbara Thompson of Dover, as well as sisters and brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, and a great-nephew and niece of the Thompson (Nelson/Miceli) family.

Along with his loving wife, Kurt was also preceded in death by his close nephew, Nathan Cummings. A celebration of Kurt’s life will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship, 132 Kutcham Dr., Uhrichsville, Oh 44683, at 11 am with Pastor Tom Klaserner officiating.
