Kim Charles Clark went to be with his Lord on November 25, 2021 at his home in Indianapolis, Indiana. The second generation of a Wabash retail merchant family, Kim was born on March 28th, 1951, the only child of Kenneth L Clark and Esther J (Snider) Clark. He was raised in Wabash where he often worked in the family business as a young boy.
Kim attended Century School, Wabash Jr. High School, and graduated from Wabash High School with the class of 1969. He attended Indiana University where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and named outstanding pledge and outstanding senior. He graduated from IU Bloomington with a Bachelor of Science degree in business. He was also a member of the Indiana University Student Foundation Steering Committee.
Following college, Kim returned to Wabash to work at the family firm, which operated three Clark’s Finer Food supermarkets and Clark’s Cafeteria. He was also active in the family real estate management business: Clarkland Properties. In 1976, he married his high school sweetheart, Margie Magner, whom he had dated for eight years. Throughout his life, Kim was a talented artist, painter, and sculptor in addition to being a beautiful pianist.
Kim contributed his time and care to many Wabash-area organizations including the Wabash Area Chamber of Commerce, Wabash Valley Music Association, and was a founding member of Wabash Economic Development Corporation. He was a director for many years at The First National Bank of Wabash, then Wells Fargo Bank, and an active member of Wabash Rotary Club where he was known to bang on the piano. Kim and his family attended Wabash Friends Church. He gave of himself fully to his community, including almost twenty gallons of donated blood over his lifetime.
From 1985 to 1998, Kim and his wife Margie designed, developed, and built Crosspointe, a residential subdivision in the City of Wabash with 48 homes.
A Life Member of the Honeywell Foundation, Kim was an 18-year board member and served as its president from 1994 to 2000. Kim felt honored to be a part of the effort to plan and build the expanded 1994 addition to the Honeywell Center, expanding Mark Honeywell’s legacy of excellence in downtown Wabash and its outreach throughout Indiana.
Kim and his wife Margie moved to Indianapolis in 2000 to be near their children but remained connected and interested in the vitality of the Wabash area. Kim was active in the commercial real estate business with his son, Ian, in Carmel and Fishers, Indiana. He was the first president of the Sycamore Springs Community homeowners association and attended The Church at the Crossing in Indianapolis. He loved to travel with this wife and friends, read voraciously, and spend time with his grandchildren. He cultivated and cherished lifelong friendships and knew how to express his love daily.
He is survived by his wife, Margie (Magner) Clark, his son, Ian Clark of Fishers, IN, and daughter, Lindsay Clark (Frank Nguyenloc) of Parker, Colorado, as well as grandchildren Olivia Clark, Max Clark, and William Clark of Fishers, IN.
In lieu of flowers, we know Kim would value the impact of donations to The Honeywell Foundation, 275 West Market Street, Wabash, IN 46992.
Kim’s Celebration of Life will take place at Flanner Buchanan- Carmel, on December 17th from 4 pm to 7 pm, followed by a memorial service on December 18th at 11 am at the Church at the Crossing on 9111 Haverstick Road, Indianapolis.
