Kerry J. Brown, 68, Indianapolis, passed away April 1, 2018. Kerry was a teacher, artist, photographer, holographer, and naturalist. He was a passionate advocate for education his entire life. Kerry was born in Chicago in 1949 and graduated from Lawrence Central High School in 1968, a BS Ball State University in 1972, and an MS from IU. He taught art for Indianapolis Public Schools for 37 years, retiring in 2009. He served as the vice president and president of the Indianapolis Education Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Glenn and Marguerite Brown, and sister, Arden (Tom) Jacobs. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Lan Bui-Brown, daughter, MaiLan Brown, brother Jim (Judy), sister, Tamara (Fred) Kopitzke, and 21 nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the Herron School of Art, through the IU Foundation, or to the Indiana Wildlife Federation. Visitation will be held Saturday at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Good Shepherd Chapel), 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, from 2:30pm to 3:00pm.
