Kenneth Richard Jordan, 66, of Heritage Lake in Fillmore, IN, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019 after a short, but courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
He was born on May 6, 1953 in Indianapolis to the late Richard Henry and Joan Irene (Rose) Jordan. Ken graduated from Southport High School in 1971 and spent a few years in Florida, living life his own way. He moved back to Indianapolis and worked for many years with RCA before his retirement in 2003. Ken chose to further his education and was proud to earn a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 2009.
In his younger years Ken had a small fishing boat and enjoyed fishing. It was the reason moved out to Heritage Lake, west of Danville Indiana. He was a bit of a loner and as an independent bachelor, he liked living in the country setting. Being a handyman, renovation shows like This Old House appealed to him. He also dabbled in cooking and liked watching cooking shows such as America’s Test Kitchen. Of course he was fond of eating too, with steak being his favorite food. He was affectionately nicknamed The Big Kahuna during a family trip to Hawaii because of his love of food.
While relaxing in front of the TV, he also enjoyed ME TV OR the COZI channel that would have such old comedy series as Hazel and The Andy Griffith Show or old westerns such as The Lone Ranger and The Rifleman. And sometimes he put in a DVD from his collection of the Gunsmoke series or the Friends series.
As a teenager Ken developed an interest in photography and built a darkroom in the basement of his parent’s house. He dabbled in photography throughout his life with a particular interest in landscapes.
Ken had a great sense of humor and would make funny quips or off hand comments sometimes exposing his dry sense of humor.
The family trip to Hawaii in 1992 was a particular favorite of his and he considered it “the trip of a lifetime.” Memories of Christmases spent together, picnics at his house and family trips are many of the special times that remain in the hearts of his family.
Most recently, Ken was a tremendous help with the care of his elderly parents. He grew up in a house that his parents had built themselves. After their passing, he enjoyed the challenge of renovating it with his sister and brother-in-law so the family legacy would continue into the new century with another family.
Ken is survived by his sisters, Connie (David) Guyon and Debbie Jordan; nieces, Sarah (Paul) Gerrish, Andrea (Rob) Elstro; and nephew, Matt (Jessica) Guyon; 5 great nieces and 3 great nephews.
