Kenneth (Ken) Blum passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024, at the age of 82.
Ken was born in New York City to Lillian and Steven Blum. He attended Chatham Central High School and after high school, attended Syracuse University majoring in Accounting. After college, he enlisted in the US Army Security Agency working in radio communications and cryptography.
Ken worked in the cement business for US Steel in Hudson, NY and Lehigh Cement where he progressed to VP of Operations retiring in 1998.
Ken enjoyed singing, participating in choir, high school musicals, and karaoke with his brother Richard. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Ken was predeceased by his stepdaughter Susanne, his sister Lois, and his brother Stephen.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan, of 54 years, his daughters Deborah (John) Best and Lori (Kenneth) Smith, from a previous marriage, and stepdaughters Yvonne (Lane) Dundee and Ellen (Thomas) Hill, his sister Lillian Reynolds, brother Richard (Karen) Blum, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
