It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of KENNETH JACOB COOPER, who left us on August 22, 2024, at the age of 92. He was born on August 25, 1931, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late Edward J. Cooper and Margaret (Vander Zanden) Cooper. Brother of the late Thomas E. (Nancy) Cooper and the late Edward J. Cooper.
Ken was larger than life, known by many for his vibrant personality and as the one in charge. A devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend, Ken touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was the life of the party, never one to know a stranger. His fantastic wit and the twinkle in his blue eyes could brighten even the darkest of days. He spent his career as a traveling jewelry salesman, journeying throughout the Midwest and building a successful career that he proudly retired from at 82. Ken loved his work and, more importantly, his clients whom he considered friends.
Family was everything to Ken. He instilled in his children the values of hard work, teamwork, and the importance of family—always accompanied by a healthy dose of humor. His wife, Barbara, was the love of his life, and their commitment to one another was evident in the way he honored her each week by taking her on a date every Saturday night.
Ken leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his children: Ann (Jim) Guinan, Sue (Dave) Fowler, Michael (Karen) Cooper, Laura (Frank) Gageby, Casey (Twila) Cooper, and Nancy Cooper. His grandchildren: Erin Reck (Doug Lambert), Allison (Christopher) Erlinger, Merritt (George) Nelson, Nicole (Kevin) Risden, Kristin (Chris) Kellas, Katie Cooper, Michael Cooper Jr., Dan (Teal) Gageby, Jeff Gageby, Amber (Curt) Mallery, Scott (Leah) Hager, Jacob Cooper, Caleb Cooper, (2nd Lieutenant US Army), Zachary Cooper (Private 1st Class US Army). His Great Grandchildren: Anthony, Ivan, June, Theo, Iris, Kelsey, Caden, Rian, Luke and Caroline.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, from 5 pm to 7 pm, at Flanner Buchanan, 1305 Broad Ripple Avenue. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 30, at 11 am, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5884 Crittenden Avenue.
