Kay Ellen Kessler, 81 of Indianapolis, IN passed away May 9, 2021. She was born September 2, 1939 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Elmer Roosa and Elsie (Lindsey) Whitis. Kay worked for the Indianapolis Public School System for numerous years at various schools throughout the city. She was a faithful long-time member of Centenary Christian Church. Kay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and devoted friend to many and will be miss by all who knew her. She was involved in Women’s Prison Ministry, Supporter of the ICAN Service Dog Training, Past President of the PTA, served as a Girls Scout and Boys Scout Leader. She had a passion for baking and decorating cakes, having a business called Kay’s Cute Cakes, and she received a first-place award for her wedding cake at the Indiana State Fair. Kay is survived by her loving children, Stephen (Donna) Kessler, Karen Kay (Sam) Chheng, Sharon Lynn (Trent) Wooten, grandchildren, Greg, Brian, Tony, Grace, Christopher, Joseph, Sori-yah, William, Scott, Amanda, Shaun, great Grandchildren, Jasmine, Katelyn, Madison, Travis, Julia, Kelsey, Chelcy, Tanis, Baylee, Kaytee, Isabelle, Layla, Lydia, sister-in-law, Peggy Sue Roosa, step-sister, Dusty Twigg, half-brothers, Buddy Roosa, Kenneth Roosa, and Harold Roosa. Besides her parents Kay was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Robert William Kessler, brother, Wayne Roosa,and half-sister Linda Hardman. Services for Kay are Wednesday, May 12, 2021 2 PM at Flanner Buchanan Floral Park with visitation there from 12:00 PM until the service at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery.
