Katie L. (Wall) Russell

    Katie L. (Wall) Russell, 94, of Lawrence, Indiana, passed away on July 1, 2019.  She was born on April 22, 1925 in Jackson, Mississippi, to the late Clark Stinson Wall Sr, and Kate Louise (Knoch) Wall.  Her family moved to Nashville, TN, when she was young, and she grew up there. She graduated from Central High School and then became the beloved wife of Mallory Russell in 1947.  Katie enjoyed her career as an Administrative Assistant to the Dean of the School of Pharmacy at Butler University, retiring in 1990.  

    Her favorite activity was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Katie was a member and Sunday School teacher at Lawrence United Methodist Church for many years.  She also enjoyed knitting and gardening.

    In addition to her parents, Katie was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Albert Mallory Russell, a granddaughter (Stacey), and 3 brothers (Clark Jr, Charles, and Jim Russell).

    Katie is survived by her 3 daughters: Vicki Hiner (husband Doug),  Julie Cooper (husband Scott), and Melinda Russell.  She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. 

    Family gathering will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Tuesday, in Fishers, with Pastor Michael Williamson, of New Hope Baptist Church, offering words of comfort and encouragement.  

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 524 E. Willard St, Muncie, IN, 47302, in Katie’s name.
