Kathy Starr Smith

Kathy Starr Smith, 69, Fort Wayne, IN, passed away September 10, 2021. She was born in Indianapolis to Edgar Lawson and Melba Ilene Starr. A graduate of North Central High School, Kathy was an animal lover and spent her career managing a pet hospital. She helped countless animals for over two decades maintain their health and find new homes when needed. Outside of her work with animals, Kathy was the constant social glue amongst her friends and family. She loved to organize events, host parties, and to make people smile. Lake life and annual trips to Dale Hollow, the infamous football pool and endless euchre parties are just a few of the times that brought her so much happiness. Kathy also cherished her involvement as the president of her son’s fraternity ‘mom’s club’ and all of the moments she got to spend with her three grandsons.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Ilene and her sister, Linda Curry. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Edgar Lawson (Michelle) Smith and grandchildren, Sullivan, Sawyer, and Shepard Smith.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite),9700 Allisonville Rd. Indianapolis from 10:30-12:30pm. A memorial service will begin there at 12:30pm. Online condolences may be shared at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
