We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved, Kathryn J. Lee, who was called to the Lord on January 5, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Kathryn, who was known by her family and friends as Kathy, was an amazing mother to her four children: Michael (Rachel) Lytle, Christina Freeman, Blake (Donyelle) Lytle and Adam Heffelmire. She was cherished by her thirteen grandchildren: Anthony Allen, Collin Allen, Hailey Lytle, Katie Allen, Aubrey Lytle, Jaiden Maynard, Jacob Lytle, Cameron Freeman, Ellie Lytle, Addison Maynard, Jameson Lytle, Ayden Heffelmire, and Kynlie Lytle. Kathy’s sisters, Cheryl Burns, Roxanne Wagner and Linda Rae Block, were very important to her and she had a special relationship with all of them. Kathy was also an elated aunt to five nephews and four nieces, including her goddaughter, Lindsee Brewer.
Kathy was born in Mishawaka, Indiana on October 29th, 1954, to Donald E. Elliott and Joanne I. Richards. She graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1973. Kathy found her passion in the medical billing field where she was truly a master at her craft, serving as a reimbursement specialist for more than 30 years. She enjoyed singing, playing volleyball, spending time with her sisters, children and grandchildren and relaxing in her pool. She loved football – always rooting for and watching the Indianapolis Colts and Notre Dame. Racing became a yearly tradition in her household as she would welcome family and friends to enjoy the greatest spectacle in racing – the Indianapolis 500.
Her greatest joy and the most important thing to her was being a devoted mother and grandmother. Living sacrificially, the needs of others were always put before her own. The shadow she cast touched many, inspired others and reminded all of us what it truly means to live for others. She was a true inspiration and hero to her children. She knew no stranger and would take any opportunity to talk about how proud she was of her children and family.
The family welcomes all to pay tribute.
A visitation will take place from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm Tuesday, January 10th, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Speedway at 2950 N High School Road in Indianapolis.
A funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 11th, 2023, at St. Christopher Catholic Church at 5301 W. 16th St, Indianapolis, IN 46224.
Kathy’s Catholic faith was a vital part of who she was and guided her to God our Father.
Kathy will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother, a wonderful daughter and sister, and a deeply loyal friend. Her family and all who knew her will hold her memory close in their hearts forever.
We love you and may you rest in eternal peace.
