Kathleen C. Goetsch

Kathleen C. (Steenholdt) Goetsch passed away peacefully on February 5, 2018. Kay, as she was called, was born on a farm near Walcott Iowa on January 19, 1919, the daughter of Nels and Hilda Steenholdt. She attended country school and Brown’s Business College in Davenport IA and married Waldo E. Goetsch on October 6, 1940. She was the proud mother of three daughters: Susan (Vince) Pelley, Noblesville IN; Sally Ryerson (Dennis), Lacey WA; and Lori Goetsch (Martin Courtois), Manhattan KS. She was the beloved grandmother of Jeffrey Pelley, Christopher Pelley, Jennifer Hendrickson, Megan Churchman, and Emily Laufer and the great-grandmother of seventeen. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her two sisters, Lois Schroder and Shirley Hamann. A long-time resident of Davenport IA and Galesburg IL, Kay work as a secretary in various businesses and churches. She will be remembered as a devoted wife; a wonderful mother; a talented needleworker, sewer, and quilter; and an avid golfer and bridge player. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  A memorial for Kathleen Goetsch has been established at the Kansas State University Foundation.
