Katherine "Kim" Arbuckle

Katherine Kimberly (Kim) Arbuckle, age 58, Lafayette, Indiana, went home to our Lord on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. Kim was a resident of the Legacy Unit at St. Mary Healthcare in Lafayette where she had resided for the past two years. She was challenged by Alzheimer’s Disease and was taken by pneumonia.

Kim was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 26^th, 1961 to David W. Arbuckle and Janet Reeve Arbuckle. She is survived by her mother; her sister, Kelly Arbuckle; one niece, Molly; and three nephews: Mitchell, Ethan, and Lucas Willeford.

Born with Down Syndrome, Kim completed Special Education classes and graduated from Lawrence North High School. She wanted to be as independent as possible; when she learned of group home programs, she applied for residency. She lived in a  group home in Indianapolis for several years and then was transferred to a supervised apartment setting in Lafayette, Indiana. She worked for Noble Industries Workshop in Indianapolis and Wabash Center in Lafayette. A hard worker, she received several awards for her outstanding service in various jobs.

Kim loved others and brought many smiles and much warmth to others wherever she went. She made many friends and was an inspiration with her industry and her love for others. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020, from 12 noon-2pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. A funeral service will follow immediately after at 2pm, also at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and/or the National Down Syndrome Society.
