Karl J. Wagner, 84, Indianapolis, passed away on May 13, 2017. He was born on September 8, 1932 in Phoenix, Arizona to Daniel Ray and Edna Irene (Price) Wagner.
Karl was proud to have served in the US Navy for five years. He was a Veteran of the Korean War assigned to the USS Brush ( DD745) (aka The Mighty Beno). In October of 2016 he was surprised to have been nominated and awarded a seat on the “Indy Honor Flight” flying to Washington DC for the day with other Veteran Honorees to visit, tour the memorial monuments and reflect.
Karl will be remembered by many for his talent as a professional entertainer and magician. Traveling the Country sharing a special message through his talent to elementary children in schools from New Jersey to California. Karl literally wrote the book on safety magic in his published title: “Safety Magic for Children” by Karl Wagner. In his later years, he continued to entertain with magic and humor to all he met.
Karl was an active member in The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed being a grandfather very much.
Karl is survived by his daughter, Amy Dietz and her husband Paul, 4 granddaughters; and 3 great- grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife and “Sweetheart” of 41 years, Rachel E. Wagner.
One of Karls biggest joys was to bring a smile to everyone's face. When you remember my dad, let those memories invoke a huge smile and possibly a good laugh; he'll be smiling and laughing with us I know.
