Karen S. Fisher, 70, of Indianapolis, peacefully passed away at her home, Wednesday, June 21st, 2023. She was born August 23rd, 1952, in Indianapolis, where she grew up and resided with her parents Harold and Jenny (Harris) Zweck.
She graduated from Arlington High School and later continued her education at Ball State University.
In June 1972, Karen married the love of her life, Dennis Fisher.
Karen worked at Greenfield Banking CO. for many years before retiring. She later started her second career as a preschool teacher at Weekday Preschool in Cumberland.
Karen was the definition of selflessness, never wanting the spotlight, always giving and thinking of others. She channeled her considerate, creative nature into hosting lovely, personalized parties and gatherings. Karen and Dennis enjoyed traveling together, usually to warm beaches, or scenic Gatlinburg. They also thoroughly enjoyed entertainment of all kinds: live shows, movies, television, sitcoms, and music. Her favorite show was Gilmore Girls, which was rewatched many times and even inspired a party theme. Summertime was Karen’s favorite, and it is only fitting she went to her heavenly home on the first day of the season.
Karen was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter Lacey Fisher (Kevin Faul); sister Judy Kendrex; niece DeAnne Shelton (Michael), nephews David and Chip Blessing; and numerous nieces and nephews on Dennis’s side of the family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis, and her parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages donations to The Breast Cancer Association or Hancock County Humane Society.
Visitation will be Monday, June 26th, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East from 1pm-3pm. Her service will begin at 3pm. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
