Karen Lang, a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her church, has passed away at the age of 85 in Westfield, Indiana. Born on May 12, 1939, in Linton, Indiana, Karen touched the lives of many through her various roles and passions.
Karen's career spanned twenty-two years at Alpha Chi Omega as the Office Manager. This not only allowed her to excel professionally but also gave her the opportunity to travel to national conventions across the country, from Pennsylvania to Louisiana and California. In addition to her work, Karen was a proud 4-H leader and volunteer who selflessly gave her time to better the lives of others.
A woman of many talents, Karen also served as the Choir Director at Lebanon Baptist Church and shared her passion for music by playing piano. Her love for music extended beyond her professional life; she and her husband, a concert trombonist, enjoyed attending classical symphonies together. This love for music permeated through generations as she passed it down to her family.
In her free time, Karen found joy in traveling, including embarking on a memorable train trip through Canada. Her adventurous spirit and zest for life were truly admirable.
Karen is survived by her loving family; children: Randy (Heather) Dickerson, and Beth (Harold) Folden; stepdaughters: The Late Angie Lang and Julie Lang; grandchildren: Elise (Jeremy) Hodges, Seth (Alyssa) Hungate, Conner (Savannah) Dickerson, and Kaley (Connor) Cunningham; great-grandchildren: Cooper Hodges, Addy Hodges, Cora Hungate, Stella Hungate, and Nyla Hungate; and sister Rita Highsmith.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Dale Sargent and Helen (Burris) Hawn; and her husband, The Late Hansel "Von" Lavon Lang.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 11th at Lebanon Baptist Church (Cedars Activity Center) at 1383 E 75 North (Or just take East Washington Street 1.2 miles out of town), Lebanon, Indiana, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to honor and remember Karen's remarkable life and legacy during this time of remembrance. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing such a kind-hearted soul. May she rest in peace as her memory lives on in the hearts of those she loved.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to her beloved church, Lebanon First Baptist Welcome | Lebanon First Baptist Church (lebanonfbc.org)
