Karen Jo Richards

Karen Jo Richards, 85, Albion, passed away November 4, 2021. She was born in Wichita, KS to Kenneth Jennings and Gladys M. (Harrington) Butler.
Karen’s childhood was spent in Wichita KS, New Orleans LA, Atlanta GA, Rensselear IN, then she settled in Indianapolis in the mid 1950’s. After graduating from Broad Ripple High School she went on to a career in the insurance industry for many years.
Karen was the most wonderful mom, grandma and great grandma (GG) to her family of 31 children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her unconditional love of family was amazing. She was the leader and chief party planner for every family birthday, Holiday and special event celebration, often hosting the huge events at her home. She was on the sidelines of nearly every event cheering for her family. Her smile, laugh and sense of humor were heartwarming and infectious.
Her love of family also extended from her faith. She and her husband Bob made great sacrifices to ensure their children knew the love, forgiveness and redemption of our Lord Jesus Christ and that they were surrounded by a faith filled community at Catholic grade schools and high schools.
She was also a lover of the family dogs, cats and other pets (and grand pets) and loved them as she did the rest of her family.
Karen was a serial house hunter. She and Bob were house flippers in the Meridian Kessler area of Indianapolis in the 1960’s and 1970’s long before there was ever a term for it. While they loved the process of hunting and renovating, with the motivation behind the moves was always centered on providing a wonderful home for the family.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 39 years, Robert James Richards, Sr (Bob), and her brother Ken Butler Jr.
Survivors include her sister Kathy Mothei, daughters Laura Buker, Lisa Thomas (Steve) Linda Cross (Jim) Leslie Tacosik (Mark) and son Bob Richards (Joy.)

From Bob Richards -grandchildren Bobby Richards (Isabelle) Maria Weber (Kory) and great grandchildren Milo and Esme Richards.
From Leslie Tacosik – grandchildren Joe Tacosik (Macy), Emma Klein (Jonathon), Carter Tacosik, Rebekah Tacosik, Jenna Fetters (Keegan), Jacob Tacosik. Great grandchildren; Wyatt Klein and Sophie Tacosik.
