Julie Marie (Young) White, 65, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on March 14, 2025. She was born on March 17, 1959, in Indianapolis, to parents, Lelone “Bud” and Phyllis Young. Julie came into the world on St. Patrick's Day, 1959. A birthday she shared with her beloved Grandmother Lorene McCarty. Julie was raised by loving and hard-working parents Bud and Phyllis who had eight children, Julie being the second youngest.
She was raised in the Catholic faith and attended school at St. Lawrence Elementary and Scecina Memorial High School. Upon graduating high school, she enrolled at Ivy Tech School of Nursing and became a nurse at St. Vincent Hospital working on the orthopedic unit for 33 years all on the night shift.
Before starting her work career, she met her husband Bill and it was love at first sight. They married May 3, 1980, and bought a house behind her parents which had just come up for sale. They lived there for sixteen years starting their family before buying Bill’s parents' home when they retired to Florida. Julie loved the outdoors whether it involved camping, houseboating, fishing in Minnesota or taking their boat and traveling to numerous lakes around Indiana to fish. She also loved the beaches of Florida where along with the kids would visit Bill’s parents and family. Julie loved to plant flowers and have a harvest of Indiana tomatoes every year. When her children played numerous sports, whether grade school or high school, she very rarely missed a game.
Julie was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in her mid-twenties and had multiple treatments and surgeries through the years. Eventually in 2013 she had to quit working because of complications and the wear and tear on her body. She got the best joy of her life when her children married and started having grandchildren. They meant everything to her and would try to be around them as much as possible till the very end. Julie developed cancer in her bladder a year ago March and later diagnosed with stage four kidney disease which she fought vigorously through chemotherapy, hydration appointments and numerous hospital stays. We’ll all miss her dearly and know she's in a better place now. We all miss and love her very much, God Bless.
