Judy Kay O’Conner 77 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away November 4, 2022. She was born September 9, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Herbert and Dorothy (Wilson) Mitscher. Judy was a Beautician for many years where she worked alongside her mother. In her free time, Judy enjoyed crocheting, solving intricate puzzles, and watching sports – especially Baseball and Football. Judy was generous and always willing to provide a helping hand when it was needed; she was quiet, yet strongly so, with stubborn side. Judy could be onery at times, with a well-developed sweet tooth, and she was a joy to share laughs with. Judy was also reserved, principled, and lived her live with love in her heart for all. Judy’s compassion was displayed in the many pets she cared for during her life, both cats and dogs, strays and other lost souls looking for love; she is predeceased by many such pets, including Macie and Tobey, who surely met their old friend with many a tail-wag and friendly licks (likely with a leash not far behind)!
More than anything though, Judy O’Conner genuinely loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Judy was well-traveled after years of following her grandchildren’s many athletic pursuits; be it softball, baseball, basketball, or volleyball – Judy rarely missed an opportunity to watch her favorite athletes. And in turn, Judy’s family takes solace in knowing that although no longer visible on the sidelines, Judy will forever be their number one fan from afar. Similarly, Judy loved family get-togethers, and holiday gatherings were where she shined. Judy’s family will fondly remember the many Christmas holidays spent at Judy’s home – which was always expertly decorated for the season!
Judy was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. She often would call family and friends, leaving a voicemail, if necessary, just to remind us how much we meant to her. She is survived by her loving children, Randy (Kim) O’Conner, Karen (Rick) Stevenson, her grandchildren, Shelby Stevenson, Jake O’Conner, Justin O’Conner, Kirsten (Alex) Gregurich, her brothers, Herb Mitscher, Ron Mitscher, Steve (Gloria) Mitscher, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Floyd O’Conner, and her sisters-in-law, Pat and Joann. Judy’s family and friends cherish her memories, are grateful for her endearing love, and will forever carry the messages Judy imparted to them during her beautiful life.
